The University of Mary Washington athletic department adopted 12 families at Hugh Mercer Elementary School to assist with holiday presents and needed clothing items for the children.
This year, the program saw participation from all 23 varsity sports, helping to bring smiles to 25 children from age 2-16.
"I'm extremely proud of our teams for embracing the spirit of the season and brightening the holidays for area children", said UMW Director of Athletics Ken Tyler. "Once again, Eagle student-athletes demonstrated why they are winners on and off the field!"
"It's amazing to see the desire and passion in our student-athletes to help these families in such a meaningful way", said UMW Director of Athletic Development Phillip Pierce. "I'm so proud to be part of a university community where there is always time for selfless service to those less fortunate."
