Ian Rogol has been named Head Athletic Trainer at the University of Mary Washington in August, 2010. He is responsible for the primary athletic health care for nearly 500 student athletes in 21 different intercollegiate sports. He also supervises one full time assistant and several student athletic training aides.

Prior to UMW, Rogol spent the previously 14 years working at the secondary school level at several schools in Central Virginia.

Rogol earned a Bachelors of Science degree in 1994 at James Madison University. In 1996 he received a Master of Education in athletic training at the University of Virginia. Both programs are certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. While at the University of Virginia he completed an internship at Fork Union Military Academy.

Rogol is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), as well as the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association, and has held many positions within the Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association the most recent being the Region III representative. He has also served as a member of the Virginia High School League’s Sports Medicine Advisory Committee. He is certified in CPR and AED by the American Red Cross. He has presented and published a study on the effects of open versus closed kinetic chain exercises in improving shoulder joint reposition sense equally in healthy subjects at the NATA annual meeting and symposia.
