UMW Men's Basketball Falls at Hood, 68-58

FREDERICK, MD - Senior center Brandon Altmann (Vienna, Va., James Madison) scored 20 points and added 12 rebounds, but the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team dropped a 68-58 decision at hood College in Capital Athletic Conference action on Friday night at Fort Detrick. The Eagles fall to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.

The Eagles jumped ahead monentarily to start the game, but Hood responded, leading by as many as 10 points in the first half, and as many as 15 in the second. The Eagles cut the deficit to as few as five to start the second half, but were unable to climb any closer.

Junior guard Qaiser Ahmed (Falls Church, Va., George C. Marshall) scored seven points and added eight assists and eight rebounds for Mary Washington, with Ryan Farrar (Ashburn, Va., Centreville, Va.) adding eight points. The Eagles shot 36% from the floor for the game, including 6-20 on three point attempts. 

Hood was led by Brenden Straughan's 21 points, and shot 44% from the floor, including 55% in the second half. The Blazers connected for 9-18 three pointers.

The Eagles will be back in action on December 13 when they visit Greensboro College at 1:00 p.m.
