Geller, Cash Pace UMW Indoor Track & Field at WVU

Matt Cash (Fredericksburg, Va., Stafford) and junior
Matt Geller (Huntington, N.Y., Harborfields) led the University of Mary Washington indoor track and field teams at the West Virginia university Gold and Blue Invitational on Saturday in the full team's first main competition of the spring on Saturday. Cash took first place in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57, and Geller won the weight throw with a toss of 52 feet, 6.75 inches.
Cash was also a member of the winning 4x400 meter relay team, which also included Daniel Piccolo, Scott Matthiessen, and Bobby Tillett, which finished at 3:33. Other highlights for the men included Chris Marino taking second in the mile at 4:33 and Jason Driscoll finishing third. Kyle Anderson ran the 5K in 16:34, and Piccolo ran the 60 meters at 7.16.
For the Eagle women, Alexandra McClellan ran the 60 meters at 8.39, and Kristy Witek finished second in the 800 meters at 2:32. Hannah Carloni leapt 15.11.75 in the long jump.
The Eagles will compete at the Mason Dixon Championships in newport News next weekend.
