University of Mary Washington junior Mary Ryan Richardson (Powhatan, Va., Powhatan) finished in first place in her class of novice equitation over fences at the Zone Championships on Sunday, meaning she will represent the Eagles at the IHSA National Championship show in several weeks.
Richardson was one of four Eagles competing on Sunday at the Zone show. Brittany Hill (Frederick, Md., Linganore) finished in fifth place in open equitation over fences, Samantha Rizzi (Gambrills, Md., Archbishop Spaulding) was sixth in intermediate over fences, and Marina Frano (Woodbridge, Va., Woodbridge) was fourth in advanced walk-trot-canter.
Richardson will compete on May 6-9 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky.
