NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – A total of 156 athletes that represent 26 schools in the state of Virginia had student-athletes recognized on Wednesday on the 2011-12 Virginia Sports Information Directors Academic All-State team.

The University of Mary Washington was represented by six student-athletes, including seniors Megan DeSmit, Kelly Scott, Marina Frano, Chris Moore, and Chris Marino, as well as sophomore Liz Green.

To be recognized on the team, consisting of all colleges in the state of Virginia, a student-athlete had to have a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and at least a sophomore in eligibility.  Each school was allowed to nominate six student-athletes.
