Junior Tommy Sangbouasy netted the game's only goal at 62:49 to give the University of Mary Washington men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite university on Sunday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 2-0 on the year.
The Eagles held a 4-1 shot advantage in the first half, but were unable to find the nets. Sangbouasy provided the heroics with a right-footed shot from outside the penalty area at 62:49 unassisted.
UMW led in shots, 11-2, and had five corner kicks to two for the Royals. Sophomore goalie Tyler Back had a pair of saves for the Eagles, while Andrew Yoder had one stop for EMU.
The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they host Randolph-Macon College at 4:30 p.m.
