UMW Men's and Women's Swimming Teams Compete at Potomac Valley Relays



The University of Mary Washington men's and women's swimming teams opened the 2009-10 season at the Division I Potomac Valley Relays on Friday hosted by American University. Both the men and women finished fourth among seven schools as the only Division III school at the meet.

Highlights of the meet included the men's 300 yard butterfly relay (Stephen Clendenin, Jason McCormack, Billy Norfolk) finishing third with a time of 2:42.58 and the men's 300 yard breaststroke relay (Peter Slattery, Matt DeMarr, Austin Clark) finished third at 3:11.04. 

The women's 1000 yard free relay (Virginia Page and Cameron Figuers) finished with a time of 10:44.29, in third place. The men's 200 yard medley relay finished fourth with a time of 1:39.63, and consisted of Nick Eckhoff, Austin Clark, Stephen Clendenin and Justin Anderson.  The men's 400 yard medley relay (Clendenin, Anderson, Andrew Cole, Eckhoff) took fourth with a time of 3:51.04. In the men's 1000 yard free relay (Andrew Garofolo and Jack McHugh) took fourth with a time of 10:04.36.

The Eagles will host Washington & Lee University on Friday, October 16 in the home opener at 6:00 p.m.
