Clendenin Closes NCAA Swim Championships with Third All-America Honor

University of Mary Washington senior Stephen Clendenin (Ashburn, Va., Home Schooled) closed his brilliant career by capturing his third All-America honor of the week, placing ninth in the 200 yard backstroke by breaking his own record by more than two seconds, with a time of 1:47.89, at the NCAA Division III National Swimming Championships on Saturday in Knoxville, Tenn. Clendenin's previous best was 1:50.37, and he bettered that to 1:49 in the morning prelims. He then closed his career in storybook fashin, knocking another 1.5 seconds off his best time to claim his third All-America honor of the year.
