UMW Swim Teams Top Hood, Split with York

The University of Mary Washington swimming teams competed in a dual-dual meet with York College and Hood College on Friday night in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagle women topped Hood, 100-22 and York, 82-40, while the men topped Hood, 98-24, and fell to York, 67-55, marking the Eagles' first CAC loss since falling to Catholic in 2000.

Winners for the women included the 200 yard medley relay at 1:56.18; Lindsay Ancellotti in the 100 yard freestyle at 11:10.77 and the 100 butterfly at 1:01.55; Casey Williams in the 100 breaststroke at 1:13.68; Allison Martin in the 200 yard butterfly at 2:18.09 and the 200 IM at 2:20.10; Robin Brazier in the 200 yard backstroke at 2:17.39; Alex Parrish in the 200 yard breaststroke at 2:37.95; Amber Kerico in the 500 freestyle at 5:20.48; and the 200 free relay at 1:44.32.

The men saw wins from Andrew Garofolo in the 1000 freestyle at 10:21.68 and the 200 IM at 2:05.02; Thomas Rinaldi in the 100 yard backstroke at 56.55; Chuck Zumbaugh in the 100 yard breatstroke at 1:02.94; and Brad Huppenthal in the 200 yard butterfly at 2:11.76.

Both teams will be back in action next Saturday when they host Randolph-Macon College at 2:00 p.m.
