UMW Rowing Teams Compete at Head of the Occoquan Regatta
The University of Mary Washington men's and women's rowing teams
competed at the Head of the Occoquan Regatta on Saturday in the
final races of the fall season.
The men's varsity eight (Daniel Zimmerman (Chesapeake, Va.,
Hickory), Patrick Wood (Springfield, Va., West
Springfield), Connor Murphy (Richmond, Va., James
River), Alexis Tamberg (Arlington, Va., Mount
Vernon), Kevin Tyler (Woodbridge, Va., Forest
Park), Daniel Russell (Falls Church, Va., McLean),
William Bennett (Gloucester, Va., Gloucester),
Garrett Hulfish (Alexandria, Va., Bishop Ireton),
Steven Johnson (McLean, Va., McLean)) had the highest
finish of the day in sixth place among 17 boats at 16:27.97.
The women's first varsity eight (Gina Ranfone,
Stephanie Lefferts, Morgan DePaulo,
Amanda Hartzell, Jessica Pryor, Eva
Campbell, Laura Page, Anne Campbell,
Elisabeth Hancock) finished 15th among 32 boats at
18:51.41, while the second eight (K. Pistochini, Webber, Gibbons,
Auer, Cutler, Steigerwald, Belfield, Cazan, D. Pistochini) took
27th at 19:52.38.
The men's first varsity four (T. Wilson, Cowley, Ericson, Russell,
Johnson) took 12th place among 31 boats at 18:38.92. The second
varsity four (Tyszka, Haddad, Kyle, Springston, Jolissaint) took
22nd in the same race at 19:37.34.
The women's four (Ranfone, Eva, Lefferts, Hartzell, Hancock) took
19th place among 31 boats at 20:54.12.
