The University of Mary Washington softball team ran its win streak to six straight with a pair of wins in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Wednesday. UMW topped Blackburn College, 8-3, and Chatham College, 8-0.
In the opener, freshman Hannah Otterman was the star, striking out 11 while allowing five hits, and also connecting for a three-run homer. Senior Morgan Lamon was 2-4 with two runs scored, Brandee Adams was 2-4, as was Kerry Busby.
In the win over Chatham, Lamon went 3-3 with one RBI, Brittany Scites was 4-4 with three RBI, and Bireet Chitty went 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Annie Blaine was 2-4 with three runs scored, and allowed just four hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
The Eagles will continue on Thursday in Myrtle Beach.
