UMW's Singer, Slattery Named CAC Swimmers of the Week
YORK, Pa. -- The Capital Athletic Conference announced its
Jan. 29, 2013, weekly award winners:
MEN’S SWIMMING
Mary Washington senior PETER SLATTERY (Annandale, Va./Woodson) was
named the CAC Men’s Swimming Athlete of the Week after
capturing two individual gold medals and contributing to a pair of
relays in the Eagles’ victory over Gettysburg College.
Slattery swept top honors in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.00), 200
breaststroke (2:15.90) and was a member of the victorious 200
medley relay (1:35.90). Slattery capped his final career home meet
as a member of the all-senior 200 freestyle relay squad.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Mary Washington junior JESSICA SINGER (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean
Lakes) was named the CAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week after
winning two individual events and contributing to a winning relay
in Saturday’s dual meet win over Gettysburg College. Singer
was the first to touch the wall in the 200 freestyle (1:58.44) and
500 freestyle (5:14.42), then chipped in to the 200 free relay
squad that finished in 1:41.92.
