Junior forward Chrissy Reardon netted the game's only goal at 78:05 on an assist from Nicole Dierkes to lead the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Va. The Eagles remain unbeaten at 3-0 on the season.
Despite a first half in which the Eagles outshot the Lady Royals, 11-2, the game stood scoreless after 45 minutes. Reardon broke through with her first score of the season with 11:55 remaining, as Dirkes played the ball to Reardon on a cross, and the junior found the nets for the game's lone tally.
UMW led EMU in shots, 19-4, and had seven corner kicks to five for the Lady Royals. UMW sophomore goalkeeper Tina Brehm made three saves, while EMU's Abby Diffenbach made ten saves.
Mary Washington will host Gettysburg College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the first game of the UMW Soccer Classic.
