The University of Mary Washington women's soccer team fell behind early, came back to take a 2-1 lead, and settled for a 2-2 tie with Stevenson University on Tuesday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action in Owings Mills, Md. The Eagles move to 8-4-2 overall and 2-2-1 in CAC play.
Stevenson jumped ahead 1-0 as Amanda Marston scored unassisted at 15:26, and the Mustangs led, 1-0, at halftime. Junior Becky Clark (Doylestown, Pa., Central Bucks West) scored her first goal of the season on an Erin Reynolds (Oakton, Va., Oakton) assist at 52:28 to tie the score, and the Eagles took the lead at 2-1 in the 66th minute as Caroline Wampler (Attleboro, Mass., Attleboro) scored on a Karen Strat (Oakton, Va., Oakton) pass.
Stevenson answered late to tie the score at two, as Allison Humphries scored with five minutes remaining. The two teams battled through two scoreless overtimes to end in the draw.
The Mustangs outshot the Eagles, 27-11, and had five corners to two for UMW. Eagle junior Tina Brehm (Springfield, Va., Robert E. Lee) made four saves for the Eagles. Mary Washington will host St. Mary's College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for Homecoming.
