Through five seasons, University of Mary Washington head women’s soccer coach Corey Hewson has already laid a strong foundation in bringing the Eagles back to national respectability after an NCAA Tournament run in just his second season at the helm, in 2009.

Hewson, who served as an assistant coach for the Eagles for seven years before leading the team to an 8-6-5 record in 2008, pushed the Eagles to 12 wins in 2010, and won the Capital Athletic Conference for the first time in five years for the program. For his efforts, he was named as the CAC’s Co-Coach of the Year. The 2010 campaign saw the Eagles ranked regionally en route to eight victories.

The 2012 season saw the Eagles finish 13-2-3, and were ranked regionally throughout the season. With just one senior on its roster, UMW will look to take another step in 2013.

A 1999 graduate of Shippensburg University, Hewson was a three year starter, with 15 career assists. He served as a graduate assistant at Alfred University with the men’s program in fall 1999, and has an NSCAA Advanced National License Distinguished Pass.

Hewson’s wife, Heather, is a 2000 Mary Washington graduate. The couple, their daughters (Alex and Addison), and their German Shorthair Pointers (Reagan and Truman), live in Fredericksburg. He is a former Executive Board Member of the river conservation group, Friends of the Rappahannock.
