UMW Continues Dominance at CAC Championships

St. Mary's, Md.-- The UMW women's swim team continued their strong showing at the CAC Championships and their first place standing. The Eagles will conclude the event tomorrow from St. Mary's. 

UMW won both relays on the day, in the 200 medley and 800 free relays. The quartet of Katie Fago, Amber Kerico, Hannah Hagy and Steph Hallock won with a time of 1:45.69. Ashley Walnut, Abby Cox, Tara Banks and Jessica Singer won the 800 free relay with a time of 7:49.95.

The Eagles dominated individual competition again today, starting off with the 400 IM. UMW went 1-3-4-5-8, with Cox and Kristen Callahan going one and three. Cox finished with a time of 4:32.41, while Callahan finished in 4:35.99. Alex Parrish, Catherine Perrin and Allison Martin rounded out the group. UMW took spots 1-4 in the next event, the 100 fly. Kerico won the event in 57.05, with Hagy (57.89), Elizabeth Lewan (59.55) and Shannon Coryell (59.72) going 2-3-4.

Singer, Banks and Hallock went 1-2-3 in the 200 free, with Singer winning in 1:54 flat. Kerico picked up her second individual win of the day in the 100 breast in 1:05.04. Hannah Hagy finished second in the race, with Mary-Patrick Bailey going fourth. The Eagles took the top four spots in the final event of the day, the 100 back. Katie Fago won with a time of 59.00. Anna Corley, Catherine Perrin, and Robin Brazier rounded out the group.
