#21 Women's Tennis Picks Up Big Win Over Division I George Mason, 4-3

Fredericksburg, Va.-- The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated Division I opponent George Mason, 4-3, on Wednesday. The Eagles stole the doubles point, and won three singles matches to seal the victory under Division I scoring. The Eagles are now 3-0 to start the year.

Lindsay Raulston and Shelby Harris won at one doubles, 8-3 over Brittany Pilkington and Ashley Delaney. Freshman Ashley Barrow and Alina Suyama earned the doubles point for UMW with a win at three doubles. The pair knocked off Mina Saygi and Sophie Santa Maria 8-3.

With a 1-0 lead in tow, the Eagles went on to win three of the six singles matches to earn the big victory. Raulston picked up a singles win at number one; 1-6, 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 over Pilkington to clinch the match. Raulston's doubles partner Shelby Harris also earned a victory in straight sets. Harris won 7-5, 6-0 over Morgan Yang. Alex Ritter won the last match, 6-0, 6-0 over Olivia Lacey-Thompson at four singles.

The Eagles return to action on March 4th, as they take on #28 La Verne at 5:00 p.m. to open their California trip. UMW will also face #10 Pomona-Pitzer (March 7th, 5:00 p.m.) and #11 University of Redlands (March 8th, 1:00 p.m.) on the trip.
